Healthy Dish

Chinese Green Beans with Minced Beef and Black Bean Garlic Sauce

Quick dish to make at home: Stir-fry a small amount of lean ground beef with 1 clove minced garlic & 1 tablespoon of black bean sauce. Add pre-cut and pre-washed green beans. Stir-fry until beans are cooked but still crispy. Yum!

“Beware the halo effect.” Not all healthy foods are equal in nutritional value. “One of the things that happens when you go into a health food store is that you may falsely believe that everything in there is healthy, including the gluten-free cookies (still cookies, and not very good tasting), organic chips (chips are chips), etc. Stick with whole or the least refined foods possible (why Farmer’s Markets rock!) and remember quantities matter — just because it is healthy doesn’t mean you can go crazy with it. “Too much healthy processed or refined food is unhealthy.” Celebrity Nutrition & Fitness Expert JJ Virgin wrote in her blog.

I love Farmers Markets and go to the Brentwood Farmers Market on most Sundays.
