Alternative Funding for Healthcare Innovation & Crossing the Chasm: Healthcare Innovation Matchmaking Session

February 16, from 3:00-6:00pm at Health & Wellness Hub:

375 Hudson Street, NYC,  entrance on King Street

Hosted by:Saatchi & Saatchi Wellness

Category:Health & Wellness

Now is the time for innovation in healthcare, for start-ups, established organizations, and big public companies. There is increased attention to the healthtech innovation space by traditional VC/PE investors, however this type of funding isn’t the only way to help transform an innovative idea into a reality. There are ample sources of alternative funding for the healthcare innovators out there. This panel will dive into these alternative sources of funding, and feature panelists from organizations who are sources of alternative funding in addition to healthcare innovators who are recipients of alternative funding. The panel will explore the parameters, expectations, and experiences of those involved in this not-well known area. Healthcare is undergoing a period of deep transformation, fueled by political, technological, and scientific changes. This innovation is happening at both the startup and established company level. At the early company stage, there are a number of tech-enabled healthcare startups as well as accelerators such as Blueprint Health (NYC), HealthBox (Chicago), and Rock Health (SF) to foster innovation. Innovation is also happening at the big company level, as evidenced by the establishment and recent growth in activity of corporate development, strategy, and innovation arms at big companies such as Aetna, Merck, and Pfizer. This interactive matchmaking session will serve to connect the two. Participants from corporate development, strategy, and innovation groups will share top innovation priorities for their companies and be linked with early stage companies innovating in these areas. Exploratory discussions around pilots, accessing/sharing data, partnerships, and distribution will ensue. RSVP is required via this link:
