Fitness Action

April 30, 2012

On Wednesday, May 23rd at 6:30PM, the group organized as LetsMove! West LA will host a ‘Fitness Action’ open to the community at the West Los Angeles Civic Center Plaza, (1645 Corinth, 90025),  The group will gather for a brief workout and meeting at the outdoor plaza near the intersection of Santa Monica Blvd. and Sawtelle Ave.
LetsMove! West LA is the local project of First Lady Michelle Obama’s national initiative to eliminate the epidemic of childhood obesity.  Childhood obesity have tripled due to declining exercise and poor nutrition patterns that have become inherent in American households in the past 3 decades. During a recent Los Angeles visit in February, 2012 Mrs. Obama stated, “I’ve always said everyone has a role in making America healthier… and I’m proud of what we’re doing to promote these efforts through our Let Move! initiative”. Following the First Lady’s visit, LetsMove! West LA group was formed by members of the West Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, Personal Trainer and Presidential Council of Fitness Award winner, Kermit Cannon, with support from the Let’s Move! LA organization sponsored by the First African American Episcopal Church (FAME Renaissance) in South LA. The May 23rd group ‘Fitness Action’ will be led by local fitness trainers and me. Several Community Wellness Events are planned for local city parks to feature fitness instruction, nutritional cooking and wellness resource information. All LetsMove! West LA events are free to the community and open to all ages.  For more information interested parties or groups are invited to join the groups social network website: www.letsmovewestla.ning.com or call Henry Hall, volunteer coordinator for the group at 310 845 5057.
